Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 2 cups Water Feel free to use filtered water for the best flavor.
  • 2 cups Milk (dairy or plant-based) Use your favorite milk! Almond, oat, or classic cow's milk all create a lovely creamy texture.
Flavorings
  • 4 sticks Cinnamon sticks (or 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon) Cinnamon adds warmth and spice; the sticks are perfect for boiling, while ground cinnamon can lend flavor without steeping.
  • 4 pieces Vanilla beans, split and scraped (or 4 teaspoons vanilla extract) Fresh vanilla beans provide a sweet, aromatic flavor that’s phenomenal.
  • 2 pieces Star anises (optional) These beautiful spices can add a lovely, slightly licorice-like flavor if you’re feeling adventurous.
Tea Elements
  • 4 tsp Loose-leaf black tea or 4 black tea bags (optional) Adding black tea brings a nice caffeine kick; it’s great for a cozy morning boost.
Sweetener
  • Honey or other sweetener of choice Sweeten to your preference!

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by heating 2 cups of water in a small pot over medium heat.
  2. If you’re using cinnamon sticks and vanilla beans, add them to the pot, then turn off the heat and cover it.
  3. Let the pot sit, covered, for about 10 minutes.
  4. If you’re in the mood for a classic tea touch, add the loose-leaf black tea or tea bags to the pot during the last few minutes of steeping. Brew it for 3-5 minutes based on how strong you like your tea.
  5. In a separate pot, gently warm 2 cups of milk over medium-low heat.
  6. Using a strainer, pour the aromatic cinnamon vanilla infusion into the warm milk.
  7. Add your favorite sweetener and stir well! Serve hot or chilled over ice.

Notes

Use fresh spices for the best flavor. Feel free to experiment with different milk substitutes and adjust sweetness to your liking. You can prepare a large batch and store it in the fridge for up to a week.
