  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Frosting Ingredients
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • Food coloring (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and baking powder together.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar, and egg until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Gradually blend the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients.
  5. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  6. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until they are golden.
Frosting
  1. For the frosting, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar, then add vanilla and milk until it is smooth.
  2. If you want, add food coloring to your frosting for a fun look.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened for easier mixing. For even baking, make sure to roll the dough balls into a uniform size. Feel free to customize the frosting with different colors or fun sprinkles!
