  • 10 cups Bread (sourdough or French), cubed Using crusty bread gives the stuffing a perfect texture.
  • 1 large Onion, finely diced Brings sweetness and depth to the stuffing.
  • 2 cups Celery, finely chopped (about 3-4 stalks) Adds a lovely crunch.
  • 2 tbsp Fresh sage, finely chopped Elevates the flavors.
  • 2 tbsp Fresh thyme, finely chopped Elevates the flavors.
  • 1 tbsp Fresh rosemary, finely chopped Elevates the flavors.
  • 4 cups Low-sodium broth (chicken or vegetable) Allows flavors to shine.
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, melted Adds richness and flavor.
  • To taste Salt and pepper Adjust seasoning to taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread the cubed bread on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 10 minutes until golden brown.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and sauté the diced onion and chopped celery for about 5-7 minutes until soft and translucent.
Mixing
  1. In a large bowl, combine the toasted bread, sautéed vegetables, and fresh herbs.
  2. Pour in the broth gradually, mixing gently until everything is just moistened.
  3. Add salt and pepper to taste and mix thoroughly.
Baking
  1. Transfer the stuffing mix to a greased baking dish and cover with foil.
  2. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes to achieve a golden crust.

Notes

Day-old bread works best; do not overmix; add the broth gradually to maintain texture. Can make variations with fruits, nuts, or sausage.
