Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until browned and onion is soft, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup along with salt and pepper until well-combined and bubbling.
Assembly
- Transfer the beef and soup mixture into a baking dish, spreading evenly.
- Layer the tater tots on top of the beef mixture snugly.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the tater tots.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve hot.
Notes
For best results, brown the meat thoroughly and use high-quality cheese. Can be prepared the night before and stored in the fridge. Freezes well.
