  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Can also use cream of chicken soup if not a fan of mushrooms.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Experiment with cheddar, mozzarella, or even pepper jack.
  • 1 bag tater tots Look for crispy tots for the perfect crunch.
  • 1 small onion, chopped Can substitute with shallots for a finer taste.
  • to taste salt and pepper Essential for enhancing flavors.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until browned and onion is soft, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup along with salt and pepper until well-combined and bubbling.
Assembly
  1. Transfer the beef and soup mixture into a baking dish, spreading evenly.
  2. Layer the tater tots on top of the beef mixture snugly.
  3. Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the tater tots.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  2. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve hot.

Notes

For best results, brown the meat thoroughly and use high-quality cheese. Can be prepared the night before and stored in the fridge. Freezes well.
