Sugar Syrup

  • 1 cup cup Sugar Main ingredient for the coating.
  • 1 cup cup Water To dissolve the sugar.
  • 1 tbsp tbsp Lemon Juice To balance the sweetness.

Instructions

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients

  • Collect fresh fruits like strawberries, grapes, or mandarin oranges. You’ll also need sugar, water, and skewers.

Step 2: Prepare the Fruit

  • Wash and dry your fruits thoroughly. Skewer them onto sticks, leaving some space between each piece.

Step 3: Make the Sugar Syrup

  • In a saucepan, combine equal parts sugar and water. Heat over medium until the sugar dissolves completely.

Step 4: Boil the Syrup

  • Increase the heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Let it bubble for about 5-7 minutes until it reaches a thick, syrupy consistency.

Step 5: Dip the Skewers

  • Carefully dip each fruit skewer into the hot syrup, ensuring it’s fully coated. Let the excess syrup drip off.

Step 6: Cool the Skewers

  • Place the dipped skewers on a parchment-lined tray. Allow them to cool and harden for about 10-15 minutes.

Step 7: Enjoy Your Tanghulu!

  • Once hardened, your Tanghulu is ready to enjoy! Bite into the sweet, crunchy goodness and savor every moment.
