Ingredients

Fruits
  • 1 lb strawberries, grapes, or other fruit of choice (~30 pieces) Choose firm, fresh fruit for best results.
Sugar Syrup
  • 2 cups white sugar Brown sugar may be used for a deeper flavor.
  • 1 cup water Use filtered water for best outcome.

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash fruit thoroughly and pat dry. Remove leaves and stems. Skewer the fruit with 3 pieces or less.
Make the Sugar Syrup
  1. In a pot, combine 2 cups of sugar and 1 cup of water over low to medium heat without stirring. Allow to gently boil.
  2. Simmer until syrup thickens and turns amber (about 10-20 minutes).
Check the Syrup
  1. Drizzle a spoonful into an ice water bath. If it hardens instantly and cracks, it’s ready.
Dip and Coat
  1. Dip fruit skewers into the syrup, swirl to coat, and quickly dunk into the ice water bath. Place skewers on a plate and repeat with remaining fruit.
Enjoy
  1. Serve immediately for the best flavor and crunch.

Notes

Temperature control is key for the syrup. Use a candy thermometer for precise results. Keep firm fruits for best results. Consider fun variations like dipping other treats.
