  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar

  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for added heat)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, mix together the tomato sauce, water, and white vinegar.
  2. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and cayenne pepper.
Cooking
  1. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  2. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cooling and Storing
  1. Once done, remove the sauce from heat and let it cool.
  2. Transfer it to a clean jar or bottle and refrigerate. The sauce can be stored for up to two weeks.

Notes

For customization, adjust spiciness by adding more cayenne or include fresh chili peppers. To sweeten, add honey or brown sugar. For a smoky flavor, double the smoked paprika.
