Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups warm milk Warm but not hot
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
Filling
  • 1 cup strawberry puree or jam Be generous for flavor and appearance

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Combine warm milk, melted butter, and eggs in another bowl.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise at room temperature for about 3 hours.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Shaping and Baking
  1. On a floured surface, turn out the dough and shape it into a loaf, adding the strawberry puree or jam in layers.
  2. Place the shaped dough into a greased loaf pan.
  3. Let it rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  4. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, until golden brown.
  5. Allow to cool before slicing.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. Freeze sliced brioche for long-term storage.
