Ingredients
  

For the Cake
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Sifted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar For sweetness
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Softened
  • 1 cup milk Room temperature
  • 3 large eggs Room temperature
  • 2 tsp baking powder For leavening
For the Topping
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries Sliced
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream Whipped

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Gradually add the flour, baking powder, and milk, mixing until just combined.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Let cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Assembly
  1. Once cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread whipped cream on top and layer sliced strawberries.
  2. Place the second cake layer on top and repeat the process.
  3. Top with additional strawberries and whipped cream before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, you can macerate the strawberries with a little sugar before adding them to the cake.
