Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually add the flour, baking powder, and milk, mixing until just combined.
Baking
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Assembly
- Once cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread whipped cream on top and layer sliced strawberries.
- Place the second cake layer on top and repeat the process.
- Top with additional strawberries and whipped cream before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, you can macerate the strawberries with a little sugar before adding them to the cake.
