- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, melt butter and whisk in sugar until glossy. Add eggs and vanilla extract.
- Mix in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 28–32 minutes. Let cool completely.
- Melt marshmallows or fluff in the microwave in 10-second intervals. Use a fork or fingers to stretch strands over brownies to form webs.
- Cut into squares and serve. Add candy spiders or sprinkles if desired.
Notes
Brownies can be made a day ahead and decorated just before serving. Freeze plain brownies for up to 2 months. Reheat leftovers in the microwave for 10–15 seconds.
