Cooking
- Preheat a griddle or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equally sized balls and season with salt and pepper.
- Place the balls on the hot griddle and immediately smash them down with a spatula until they’re about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes until a caramelized crust forms on one side.
- Flip the patties, add cheese (if using), and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.
- While the burgers are cooking, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, relish, and garlic powder in a bowl to make the easy sauce.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the griddle for a minute until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun, adding lettuce, tomato, and onion, and drizzling the easy sauce over the top.
- Serve immediately and enjoy.
Notes
If you have leftovers, store the cooked patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. The buns can be stored separately. To reheat, warm the patties in a skillet until heated through, and toast the buns again if needed. Customize the sauce by adding your favorite spices or ingredients.
