Ingredients

Smash Burger Taco Base
  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20 preferred
  • 4 small flour tortillas
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese or shredded cheddar
Toppings
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced dill pickles
  • 1/4 cup burger sauce ketchup, mayo, mustard blend
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter for frying

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Spatula or Burger Press

Method

  1. Prepare toppings: shred lettuce, dice tomatoes, and slice pickles. Set aside cheese and burger sauce.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high. Place a small ball of ground beef on a tortilla, season with salt and pepper, and press thin using a spatula or burger press.
  3. Place beef-side down in the skillet and cook until beef is browned and edges are crispy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Flip to crisp the tortilla side, top with cheddar cheese, and let melt while cooking another 1-2 minutes.
  5. Remove from skillet and top with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and burger sauce.
  6. Fold in half and serve immediately. Repeat for remaining tacos.

Notes

Tips: use a burger press for thinner beef, and warm tortillas before smashing. Customize with different cheeses or spicy sauces. Store toppings and cooked beef separately for best reheating results.
