Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 to 4 pounds beef brisket Ask for a nice marbled cut for the best flavor.
  • 1 piece onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth Consider using low-sodium options.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Can substitute with tamari for gluten-free.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin

Method

Preparation
  1. Place the sliced onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker to create a flavorful base.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, black pepper, salt, thyme, and cumin until well combined.
  3. Carefully place the beef brisket on top of the onion and garlic layer in the slow cooker.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the brisket, ensuring it’s well-coated.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.
  6. Once done, carefully remove the brisket from the slow cooker and allow it to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing it against the grain.
  7. Serve the sliced brisket warm with your favorite side dishes, drizzled with the savory sauce from the cooker.

Notes

For quicker preparation, chop vegetables ahead of time. Avoid overcrowding the slow cooker for even cooking. You can marinate the brisket overnight for richer flavors.
