  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds a rich flavor.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • to taste salt and pepper Season between layers for enhanced flavor.
  • Butter for greasing the baking dish Helps prevent sticking.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and half of the minced garlic.
  3. Add half of the onion slices on top, followed by half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheese.
  4. Pour half of the heavy cream over the layers.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, garlic, onions, and cheeses, then pour the remaining cream over the top.
Baking
  1. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  3. Let the scalloped potatoes cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding herbs between layers. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days or freeze for later.
