Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
- In a bowl, mix the Oreo cookie crumbs with melted butter and press the mixture into the bottom of a springform pan to form the crust.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
- Add in buttermilk, eggs, cocoa powder, red food coloring, and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- Pour the filling into the crust and smooth the top.
Baking
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until set. Allow to cool.
Topping
- For the topping, whip heavy cream and powdered sugar together until stiff peaks form, then spread it over the cooled cheesecake.
- Chill for at least 4 hours before serving.
Notes
Serve chilled and cut into slices. Garnish with additional whipped cream or chocolate shavings. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
