  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances all flavors.
  • 1/2 cup milk Warm slightly to activate yeast.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter Room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1 large egg Room temperature helps mix better.
For the Filling
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped Toasting enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Packed for the best results.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Freshly ground makes a difference.
For the Glaze
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup Keeps the buns moist.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted Use real butter for best flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a saucepan, gently heat the milk and butter until just warm (about 110°F).
  3. Pour the warm milk mixture into the flour blend, then add in the egg. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Turn your dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size — about an hour.
Shaping and Baking
  1. Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread the melted butter over it, then sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans.
  2. Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other and slice into rolls.
  3. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish drizzled with corn syrup and melted butter. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Let the sticky buns cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for best results. Knead properly for good texture. Allow buns to cool before drizzling with syrup.
