Method
Preparation
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In a saucepan, gently heat the milk and butter until just warm (about 110°F).
- Pour the warm milk mixture into the flour blend, then add in the egg. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn your dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size — about an hour.
Shaping and Baking
- Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread the melted butter over it, then sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans.
- Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other and slice into rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish drizzled with corn syrup and melted butter. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the sticky buns cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use fresh ingredients for best results. Knead properly for good texture. Allow buns to cool before drizzling with syrup.
