Noodles and Vegetables
  • 2 packages chow mein noodles Use fresh or dried chow mein noodles.
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil For stir-frying.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced To enhance flavor.
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage You can use green or red cabbage.
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned Adds sweetness and color.
  • 1 medium bell pepper, sliced Any color bell pepper can be used.
  • 3 stalks green onions, chopped For garnish and flavor.
Sauces and Seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil For a nutty aroma.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season to your preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cook chow mein noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add shredded cabbage, carrot, and bell pepper; stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until vegetables are slightly tender.
  5. Toss in cooked noodles, green onions, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
  6. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and well combined.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade Chow Mein!

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3 days. When reheating, add a splash of water to keep the noodles from drying out. Customize the recipe by adding proteins like shrimp, chicken, or tofu.
