Ingredients
  

For the Fish
  • 4 fillets tilapia fillets Firm white fish that works well with the spices.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For brushing the fillets.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges For serving, adds a citrus brightness.
For the Spice Mix
  • 1 tablespoon paprika Key flavor in the blackened seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper Adds heat; can substitute with chili powder.
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  3. Brush each tilapia fillet with olive oil.
  4. Coat both sides of the seasoned fillets with the spice mixture, pressing lightly.
  5. Place the seasoned fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  2. Serve with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For best texture, reheat in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for 10-15 minutes.
