  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground cloves, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar for about 3-4 minutes until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, then add fresh orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, blending until just combined.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Let the cookies cool before drizzling the glaze.
Glazing
  1. Mix powdered sugar and fresh orange juice to create a spiced glaze.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over cooled cookies before serving.
