  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
Vegetables
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
Liquids
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
Pasta and Dairy
  • 2 cups lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Seasonings
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Garnish
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef or sausage over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.
Cooking
  1. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, and Italian seasoning. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  2. Add the broken lasagna noodles and cook until the noodles are al dente.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix ricotta with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  4. Once the noodles are cooked, stir in the ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese until melted and combined.
Serving
  1. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.

Notes

Use fresh herbs if available; they will enhance the flavor. If you want a bit of spice, add red pepper flakes. Substitute gluten-free lasagna noodles if you need a gluten-free option. Can customize by adding vegetables like spinach or zucchini.
