Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 bottle 1 bottle of red wine (or non-alcoholic grape juice) Choose a bold red wine for the best flavor.
  • 1 unit 1 orange, sliced Extra slices can be used for garnish.
  • 2 sticks 2 cinnamon sticks Add more for a stronger cinnamon flavor, if desired.
  • 4 cloves 4 cloves
  • 2 star anise 2 star anise
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup honey or sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 cup 1 cup of water

Method
 

Preparation and Cooking
  1. Combine all ingredients in a pot.
  2. Heat over medium heat until hot, but do not boil.
  3. Reduce heat and let simmer for about 20-30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Serve warm in mugs, garnished with additional orange slices and cinnamon sticks if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before serving. You can create a non-alcoholic version by using grape juice instead of wine.
