  • 1 bottle white wine Use a dry white wine for balance.
  • 1/4 cup rum
  • 1/4 cup honey or sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 orange Sliced for flavor.
  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks
  • 4-5 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • 1-2 cups apple cider Optional addition for flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a pot, combine the white wine, rum, and honey or sugar.
  2. Add the sliced orange, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and apple cider if using.
  3. Warm the mixture over medium heat until it's hot but not boiling.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Strain the mixture into glasses and serve warm.

Notes

Serve in heatproof glasses or mugs, garnishing with a slice of orange or a cinnamon stick. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat gently before serving.
