Ingredients

Tostadas Base
  • 12 mini corn tortillas or street taco-size flour tortillas
  • cooking oil or spray for brushing tortillas
Main Toppings
  • refried beans warmed for easier spreading
  • shredded cheese cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mexican blend

  • diced tomatoes
  • avocado
  • jalapeños
  • sour cream
  • salsa or hot sauce

Equipment

  • Sheet Pan
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly brush or spray both sides of mini tortillas with oil and place them on a large sheet pan.
  2. Bake tortillas for 5–7 minutes until slightly crisp.
  3. Spread a layer of warmed refried beans on each tortilla and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  4. Return to oven and bake for 8–10 minutes until cheese is melted and edges are golden brown.
  5. Top with your favorite toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, jalapeños, sour cream, and salsa. Serve immediately.

Notes

Make ahead by prepping toppings and baking tortillas. Avoid overloading to prevent sogginess. Tostadas are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in a toaster oven for crispiness.
