Main Ingredients
2
cups
milk
Whole milk recommended; can substitute with almond, oat, or soy milk
2
tbsp
unsweetened cocoa powder
Preferably Dutch-processed for a smoother flavor
2
tsp
sweetener
Sugar, honey, or maple syrup, based on preference
1/2
tsp
vanilla extract
Optional, for enhanced flavor
1
pinch
salt
Optional, enhances chocolate flavor
Instructions
Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat, ensuring it doesn’t boil.
In a small bowl, mix the cocoa powder with a small amount of warm milk to create a smooth paste.
Add the cocoa paste and sweetener to the warmed milk, whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt if using. Continue stirring until fully blended.
Pour into mugs and serve hot. Optionally, top with whipped cream or marshmallows.
Notes
You can experiment with additional flavors like cinnamon, nutmeg, or a dash of chili powder for a spicy twist.
