Method
Preparing the Dough
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine 150 grams of flour, 100 ml of water, 100 ml of milk, 80 grams of melted butter, 4 eggs, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until smooth.
- Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and tap on the counter to remove air bubbles.
- Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Making the Cream Filling
- In a saucepan, combine 500 ml of milk and 150 grams of sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until dissolved.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 100 grams of flour, 2 eggs, and a touch of the warm milk mixture.
- Gradually add the flour mixture back to the warm milk, stirring continuously until thickened (about 5-7 minutes).
Assembling the Cake
- Once cooled, slice the cake horizontally to create two layers.
- Spread cream filling generously between layers.
- Place the second layer on top and dust with icing sugar.
Notes
Let the cake cool completely for beautifully clean slices. Sift flour for a lighter cake texture.
