For the Cake
  • 150 grams 150 grams (1 ½ cups) all-purpose flour Sift for extra fluffiness.
  • 100 ml 100 ml (½ cup) water Should be room temperature.
  • 100 ml 100 ml (½ cup) milk Whole milk is recommended.
  • 80 grams 80 grams (⅓ cup) butter Melted for easier mixing.
  • 4 large 4 large eggs Use room temperature for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon baking powder The rising agent.
  • ½ teaspoon ½ teaspoon salt Balances sweetness.
For the Cream Filling
  • 500 ml 500 ml (2 cups) milk For richness.
  • 150 grams 150 grams (¾ cup) sugar Sweetens the filling.
  • 100 grams 100 grams (1 cup) all-purpose flour Sift for tenderness.
  • 2 large 2 large eggs For enrichment.
  • 180 grams 180 grams (¾ cup) butter Enhances creaminess.
For Garnish
  • Icing sugar or your favorite garnish Dust over finished cake.

Method
 

Preparing the Dough
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine 150 grams of flour, 100 ml of water, 100 ml of milk, 80 grams of melted butter, 4 eggs, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and tap on the counter to remove air bubbles.
  4. Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Making the Cream Filling
  1. In a saucepan, combine 500 ml of milk and 150 grams of sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until dissolved.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together 100 grams of flour, 2 eggs, and a touch of the warm milk mixture.
  3. Gradually add the flour mixture back to the warm milk, stirring continuously until thickened (about 5-7 minutes).
Assembling the Cake
  1. Once cooled, slice the cake horizontally to create two layers.
  2. Spread cream filling generously between layers.
  3. Place the second layer on top and dust with icing sugar.

Notes

Let the cake cool completely for beautifully clean slices. Sift flour for a lighter cake texture.
