Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 2 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1 1/2 tbsp matcha powder
  • 3/4 cup milk warm
  • 1 egg room temperature
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 2 tbsp butter softened

Method
 

  1. Mix bread flour, matcha powder, sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl.
  2. Warm the milk and add to the dry ingredients along with the egg and softened butter.
  3. Knead the dough for 10–15 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled.
  5. Deflate dough, divide and shape as desired (e.g., rolls, loaf).
  6. Place in a greased loaf pan or tray, let rise a second time until puffy, about 1 hour.
  7. Brush with egg wash and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden.

Notes

Use high-quality matcha for the best flavor and color. You can also swirl it with plain dough or add chocolate chips or sweet red bean paste for variations.
