Ingredients

Base Mixture
  • 6 cups Rice Bubbles (puffed rice cereal)
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • several drops red or pink food coloring
  • as needed cooking spray or oil for greasing hands and tools

Equipment

  • Large Pot
  • Mixing Spoon
  • Tray
  • Cooking Spray

Method

  1. In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until melted and smooth. Mix in the food coloring and vanilla extract until the mixture is a fleshy pink color.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the Rice Bubbles until well coated.
  3. Grease your hands with cooking spray. While the mixture is warm but not hot, shape into brain-like ovals and carve grooves using a skewer or knife.
  4. Place on a lined tray and refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up.

Notes

Customize with different extracts, add candy eyes or drizzle with red icing for extra creepiness. Store in a sealed container for up to 3 days. Not recommended for freezing.
