Preparation
- Add the butter and maraschino cherry juice to a mixing bowl. Mix together on medium speed until thoroughly combined (about 2 minutes).
- Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
- Add the powdered sugar and mix on low until incorporated (about 30 seconds).
- Increase to medium-high and mix for another 30-45 seconds until light and fluffy.
- Add the cornstarch and mix until combined.
- Finely dice 6 to 8 maraschino cherries and fold them into the frosting with a spoon.
Notes
This frosting is perfect for slathering on cakes or cupcakes. You can also use it to fill layered cakes or as a dip for fruit. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months and thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
