Ingredients

Jello Layers
  • 1 box (3 oz) red Jello (e.g., strawberry or cherry)
  • 1 box (3 oz) blue Jello (e.g., blueberry or raspberry)
  • 1 box (3 oz) white Jello (e.g., unflavored gelatin or coconut)
Liquid Ingredients
  • 1 cup boiling water (for each color) Total of 3 cups needed
  • 1/2 cup cold water (for each color) Total of 1.5 cups needed
  • 1/2 cup vodka (or desired alcohol) Can substitute with cold water for non-alcoholic version
Garnish
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream Optional for serving

Method

Preparation of Layers
  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a mixing bowl, dissolve the red Jello in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir for 2-3 minutes until fully dissolved. Add 1/2 cup of cold water and 1/2 cup of vodka, mixing thoroughly. Pour the mixture into shot glasses (or cups), filling them about one-third full. Place the shots in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours, or until fully set.
  2. Make the White Layer: In a separate bowl, combine the unflavored gelatin with 1 cup of boiling water, stirring until dissolved. Add 1/2 cup of cold water and 1/2 cup of vodka, mixing well. Once the red layer is set, carefully pour the white mixture on top of the red, filling the shot glasses about one-third of the way again. Return to the refrigerator for another 1-2 hours until set.
  3. Finish with the Blue Layer: Repeat the process for the blue Jello. Once the white layer has set, pour the blue mixture on top and refrigerate for another 1-2 hours.
  4. Serve: Once all layers are set, top with a dollop of whipped cream for an extra touch.
