Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean ground beef to reduce fat content.
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes Canned.
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce Canned.
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 8 pieces lasagna noodles, broken
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese Add more for a cheesier version.
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese For topping.
  • Parmesan cheese For serving.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.

Method

Cooking
  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat and add the chopped onion and garlic; cook until softened.
  2. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, broth, tomato sauce, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  3. Add the broken lasagna noodles and cook until tender, about 10-12 minutes.
  4. Stir in the ricotta cheese until heated through.
  5. Serve hot, topped with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Notes

Serve with garlic bread or a simple side salad. For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with lentils or plant-based meat. Adjust spices to taste, and consider adding heavy cream for creaminess.
