Equipment

  • Loaf Pan
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder preferably dark
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 eggs room temperature
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup hot fudge sauce warmed slightly

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a standard loaf pan. Line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder until smooth.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, whisking until fully incorporated. Stir in the sour cream and vanilla extract.
  • Fold in the flour, baking powder, and salt just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan, drizzle with half the hot fudge and swirl. Add the remaining batter and repeat with the rest of the hot fudge.
  • Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let it cool before slicing.

Notes

To switch it up, try swirling in peanut butter, salted caramel, or adding nuts. You can also make it ahead and freeze slices for later chocolate cravings.
