Preparation
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Add the yogurt and a bit of water. Knead everything together to form a soft dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for at least 1 hour.
- Once rested, divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
- Roll out each ball into a teardrop shape, making it about 1/4 inch thick.
Cooking
- Heat a skillet or tandoor over medium-high heat, and brush it with oil.
- Place the rolled dough onto the skillet and cook for about 1-2 minutes until bubbles form.
- Flip it over and cook the other side until it’s golden brown.
- Remove from the heat and brush with melted butter.
- If you want, sprinkle with minced garlic or chopped cilantro before serving with rice and curry.
Notes
Make sure to knead the dough well; this helps in making the naan soft. If the dough feels sticky, add a little more flour until it’s manageable. For extra flavor, experiment with different toppings like herbs, spices, or cheese. Always preheat your skillet well for the best cooking results.
