Preparation
- In a bowl, mix warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In another bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it's smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl and cover it.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Once risen, transfer the dough to a greased baking sheet and stretch it out to fit.
- Dimple the surface with your fingers, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with herbs and sea salt.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Store leftover focaccia in an airtight container at room temperature for about 2-3 days. You can freeze it for up to 3 months and reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C).
