  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 ounces cream cheese (optional) for extra creaminess

  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups Parmesan cheese (freshly grated) look for high-quality for best flavor
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional) for an aromatic touch

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet over medium-low heat, add the butter, heavy cream, and cream cheese (if using). Stir continuously for about 2 minutes until the mixture has fully melted and starts to lightly simmer.
  2. Whisk in the minced garlic, Italian seasoning (if desired), salt, and pepper. Cook for another minute, allowing the flavors to meld.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and gradually add the shredded Parmesan cheese. Continue whisking for about 3-5 minutes, until the cheese has melted completely and the sauce looks smooth and creamy.
  4. Serve immediately over your favorite pasta, optionally sprinkle some nutmeg on top before enjoying.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Avoid boiling the sauce to prevent separation. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
