Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into the creamed mixture.
  5. Stir in chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  2. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.
  3. Allow cookies to cool for a few minutes before cutting them into heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
