Ingredients

Brownie Batter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Cream Cheese Swirl
  • 6 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • orange food coloring gel recommended for vibrant color

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • 8x8-inch baking pan
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Spatula
  • Knife
  • Parchment Paper

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt butter. Whisk in granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, and salt until fully combined and glossy.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese until soft. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and orange food coloring. Mix until smooth and vibrantly orange.
  4. Pour most of the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Spoon the cream cheese mixture in dollops over the top. Add remaining brownie batter, then use a knife to swirl the two together.
  5. Bake for 35 minutes or until the center is just set. A toothpick should come out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Use gel food coloring for vibrant color without altering consistency. Cool completely for clean cuts. These brownies freeze well individually wrapped for up to 2 months.
