Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot of boiling salted water, blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes until they’re a bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy, then fold in the green beans and half of the French-fried onions.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. Spread it evenly.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle remaining French-fried onions on top (and cheese if using), and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until golden brown.
Serving
- Serve hot as a side dish and enjoy!
Notes
Make-ahead friendly: assemble the casserole up to a day in advance. Reheat in the oven before serving. This dish can also be frozen for future meals.
