  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed Fresh is best for that vibrant color and crisp texture!
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Adds the creamy base that ties everything together beautifully.
  • 1 cup milk To thin out the soup and make the casserole extra creamy.
  • 1 cup French-fried onions Provides that irresistible crunch.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Essential for enhancing all those delicious flavors.
  • Optional: cheese for topping Add for a gooey, cheesy finish.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot of boiling salted water, blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes until they’re a bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy, then fold in the green beans and half of the French-fried onions.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. Spread it evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  2. Remove from oven, sprinkle remaining French-fried onions on top (and cheese if using), and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Serve hot as a side dish and enjoy!

Notes

Make-ahead friendly: assemble the casserole up to a day in advance. Reheat in the oven before serving. This dish can also be frozen for future meals.
