- In a large pot, combine the red wine, orange slices, lemon slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat until steaming, but do not let it boil.
- Stir in the sugar until dissolved.
- If using, add the brandy and stir well.
- Let it simmer on low heat for about 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Strain the mixture to remove the spices and serve warm in mugs.
Notes
Serve warm in mugs or heat-safe glasses. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat gently.
