Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries and sugar. Toss gently to coat the strawberries evenly with the sugar.
  2. Let the mixture sit for about 10-15 minutes until the strawberries release their juices.
  3. Stir in the lemon juice and vanilla extract.
Serving
  1. Serve over cheesecake, pound cake, ice cream, or whipped cream. The sauce is also delightful drizzled over pancakes.

Notes
