Cheese Mixture
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Soften it at room temperature for best texture.
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (Cheddar or a blend) Choose your favorite for flavor.
  • 1/4 cup sour cream Can substitute with Greek yogurt.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder Brings a lovely garlic flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder Adds subtle sweetness.
  • 1/4 tsp salt Balances flavors.
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper For a touch of heat.
Topping
  • 1/2 cup pecans, toasted Toast for depth of flavor.
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar Sweetens the pecans.
  • 1 tbsp butter Used to toast pecans.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth.
  2. Gently transfer the mixture to a serving dish and smooth the top.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter, then add the pecans and sprinkle with brown sugar. Stir until lightly toasted.
  4. Pour the toasted pecans over the cheese spread.
  5. Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, or slices of baguette.

Notes

Soften your cheese for the best consistency. Taste and adjust seasonings to your preference.
