  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed Use cold for a flaky texture.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently a few times.
  6. Roll out or pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness.
  7. Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or glass and place them on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

To store leftover biscuits, place them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For longer storage, freeze after they cool and reheat in the oven.
