Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently a few times.
- Roll out or pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness.
- Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or glass and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
To store leftover biscuits, place them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For longer storage, freeze after they cool and reheat in the oven.
