Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 8 ounces egg noodles This is the hearty base of your casserole; they soak up all that delicious sauce!
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage Your choice of meat adds rich flavor and protein to the mix.
  • 24 ounces pizza sauce The star accompaniment; it gives that quintessential pizza taste.
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni Adds a nice zing!
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Necessary for that ultimate cheesy experience.
  • 1 cup bell peppers, chopped For some freshness and crunch; use any color you love!
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped Adds a lovely sweetness and aromatic depth.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Adds magical flavor—think basil, thyme, and oregano.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Essential to enhance flavors.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring water to a boil and cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or Italian sausage, breaking it apart as it cooks. Add chopped onions and bell peppers, cooking until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Stir in the pizza sauce, pepperoni, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked egg noodles with the meat mixture.
Assembly
  1. Spread half of the noodle mixture in a greased casserole dish. Top with half of the mozzarella cheese.
  2. Layer the remaining noodle mixture on top and finish with the rest of the mozzarella cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  2. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Don’t overcook the noodles as they will continue to cook in the oven. Feel free to mix in provolone or even a little Parmesan for depth. Use fresh vegetables for better flavor.
