Ingredients
  

For the Marinade
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Adjust to taste for sweetness
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Chicken
  • 4 thighs chicken Can substitute with breasts or drumsticks
  • 1 stalk green onion, chopped For garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper.
  2. Place the chicken thighs in a resealable bag or dish and pour the marinade over them.
  3. Seal the bag or cover the dish and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Remove the chicken from the marinade and cook in the skillet for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked.
  3. Pour the remaining marinade into the skillet and bring to a simmer, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  4. Serve the chicken hot, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken for a longer time, up to a few hours or overnight. If you like a bit of heat, add some red pepper flakes to the marinade. Make sure to check that the chicken is cooked through by using a meat thermometer; it should read 165°F (75°C).
