  • 1 lb ground beef or sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 8 oz lasagna noodles, broken
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Fresh basil for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef or sausage over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and broth. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Add the broken lasagna noodles and Italian seasoning. Simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the noodles are cooked.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses. Mix until well combined.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of red wine when cooking the meat and onions. You can use different types of cheese, like provolone or fontina, for a unique taste. Feel free to add vegetables like spinach or zucchini for added nutrition. Adjust the seasoning to your taste.
