Ingredients
  

Pasta and Base Ingredients
  • 12 oz pasta (spaghetti, linguine, or your choice) Choose your favorite type! Whole wheat or gluten-free works well too!
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Adds a luscious creaminess that brings everything together.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic gives a vibrant flavor that you just can’t substitute.
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) A pinch adds a fun kick, but feel free to omit if you prefer milder dishes.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Choose a good quality cheese; it elevates the dish and adds that delicious umami.
  • 1/4 cup reserved pasta cooking water This starchy water helps loosen the sauce and makes it cling beautifully to the pasta.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for extra richness) If you’re feeling indulgent, olive oil adds another layer of flavor.

Method
 

Cook the Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add pasta and cook until al dente according to package instructions.
  3. Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain and set aside.
Prepare the Garlic Butter Sauce
  1. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using), and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Combine Pasta and Sauce
  1. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet.
  2. Stir in the reserved pasta water to loosen the sauce, followed by the grated Parmesan cheese.
Season and Serve
  1. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately, topped with extra Parmesan if desired.

Notes

Don’t overcook the pasta! Use fresh garlic for the best flavor. Adjust pasta water if the sauce seems too thick. Experiment with different cheeses and enjoy garnishes!
