Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together warm milk, melted butter, and egg until well combined.
- Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
Kneading and Rolling
- Flour your work surface and knead the dough gently for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Roll the dough into a rectangular shape about 1/4-inch thick.
- Brush melted butter across the surface of the rolled dough.
Filling and Cutting
- Mix together ground cinnamon and brown sugar in a bowl.
- Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
- Gently roll the dough into a tight log and cut it into 1-inch slices.
- Place each roll on its side in a greased baking dish.
Rising and Baking
- Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise for about 30 minutes.
- Before baking, pour the heavy cream over the top of the rolls.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Icing and Serving
- While the rolls cool, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
- Drizzle the icing over the warm rolls before serving.
Notes
Use fresh yeast for maximum rise. Dough rising is essential for light texture. Can be made vegan by using plant-based milk and a flax egg.
