Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 stick Unsalted Butter, softened This is the heart of the cookie, lending that rich, creamy flavor we adore.
  • 1 stick Margarine, softened Helps keep the cookies tender while adding just the right amount of flavor.
  • 3/4 cup Sugar Gives that delightful sparkle to our cookies.
  • 2 large Eggs Bind everything together and add moisture.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract Adds warmth and a cozy flavor.
  • 1 pinch Salt Enhances sweetness and balances overall flavor.
  • 3 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour Gives structure and richness to the cookie dough.
  • 1 heaping tsp Baking Powder Helps the cookies rise perfectly.
  • as needed optional Gel Food Coloring For adding festive flair and creativity.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by putting the softened unsalted butter and margarine into an electric mixer. Beat them together until the mixture is fluffy and smooth.
  2. Gradually add the sugar—half a cup at a time—while continuing to mix. Then, add the eggs one at a time, ensuring everything is well blended.
  3. Pour in the vanilla extract and stir it into the butter mixture.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Slowly add the dry flour mixture to your butter mixture, a little at a time, without overworking the dough.
  6. Chill the dough in the fridge for about 15 minutes.
  7. Chill your baking pan in the fridge for 15 minutes as well.
Baking
  1. Load your cookie press with the chilled dough.
  2. Press the cookies onto an ungreased cookie sheet in festive shapes and sprinkle sprinkles or sanding sugar on top.
  3. Bake at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.

Notes

Pro Tips: Ensure ingredients are at room temperature, don't overmix, and watch your bake time closely. Experiment with cookie shapes and flavors like citrus zest or chocolate chips!
