Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 egg beaten, for egg wash
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar optional, for glaze
  • 1 tbsp milk optional, for glaze

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut puff pastry into 6 even squares or rectangles.
  2. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice until smooth and creamy.
  3. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each pastry square. Fold corners in or leave open. Brush edges with egg wash.
  4. Bake for 18–20 minutes or until puffed and golden. Cool on a wire rack.
  5. Optional: Mix powdered sugar and milk for glaze. Drizzle over cooled danishes before serving.

Notes

Chill assembled danishes for 10 minutes before baking to retain shape. Use fruit jam for variation. Store leftovers in fridge up to 3 days.
