Ingredients

Beef and Seasoning
  • 2 lbs Beef Stir-Fry Strips (angus beef inside round, flank or chuck steak, thinly sliced)
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Crushed Red Chili Pepper Flakes more or less as desired
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
Vegetables
  • 1/2 count Tri-Coloured Bell Peppers (julienned) (red, green, yellow, orange)
  • 1 head Broccoli (cut into small florets)
  • 1/2 count Red Onion (medium, julienned)
  • 2 tsp Fresh Ginger (grated)
  • 6 cloves Garlic (minced)
Sauce
  • 3 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Beef Broth
  • 1/3 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/3 cup Honey
  • 2 tsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tsp Cold Water
For Cooking
  • Olive Oil for cooking
  • Sesame Seeds for garnish
  • Sliced Green Onions for garnish
  • Crushed Red Chili Pepper Flakes for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Season the beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cover it and set aside while prepping the vegetables and sauce.
  2. Prepare the vegetables — julienne the bell peppers, cut the broccoli into small florets, and julienne the red onion. Set them aside.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the garlic, ginger, soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, and honey until everything is well combined.
  4. Prepare a cornstarch slurry by mixing cornstarch and cold water until it’s smooth.
Cooking
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet or wok over high heat. Sear the seasoned beef strips until they are browned, remove them from the skillet, and set them aside.
  2. Add the vegetables to the skillet and sauté them for about a minute. Then, add the sauce mixture and let it simmer.
  3. Return the beef to the skillet and stir it until everything is coated in sauce. Pour in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce to your liking and mix until it’s well incorporated.
  4. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds, more red chili pepper flakes, or sliced green onions as desired.

Notes

Slice the beef thinly against the grain for tender pieces. You can add your favorite vegetables such as snap peas, carrots, or mushrooms for extra flavor and nutrition. Adjust the level of heat by increasing or decreasing the amount of crushed red chili pepper flakes.
