Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease your baking dish with butter.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes into the dish, sprinkling with salt, pepper, and half of the shredded cheeses.
  4. Add the remaining potatoes, followed by more salt, pepper, and the rest of the cheeses.
  5. In a bowl, mix the cream or milk with minced garlic and chopped herbs, then pour evenly over the potatoes.
  6. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  7. After 40 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Ensure potato slices are even for best cooking results. Feel free to customize with additional spices or herbs.
